In a world that feels increasingly disconnected, The Door Women’s Center is proving that human connection, factual education, and consistent support can change the trajectory of a family for generations.
From the moment you walk into their lobby, it is clear that this isn't just an office; it’s a sanctuary. Under the leadership of a team that treats every client like family, the center has seen a staggering 300% increase in clients over the last two years, proving just how vital these services are to the Forney community.
Options counseling is a cornerstone of the center, giving women facing unplanned pregnancies a safe, quiet place to consider their future. Understanding that many people are uncomfortable with phone calls, The Door has modernized its communication by allowing clients to reach out by text, email, or phone. Zoom appointments are available for those without transportation or health barriers, ensuring everyone has access to support.
Through prenatal, parenting, and life skills classes, parents earn “points” to spend in the Blessing Boutique on essential items. The boutique provides diapers, wipes, clothing, gently used or new toys and books, maternity and nursing supplies, and brand-new cribs and bedding for families in need, thanks to local partnerships.
Every class at The Door is one-on-one, offering personalized support and a safe space to discuss challenges. Beyond basic baby care, the center focuses on life skills to help break generational dysfunction, teaching new ways to parent and manage life, so young couples can provide a better future for their children than they may have had themselves.
The Door Women’s Center operates entirely on donations, and every single service they provide is 100% free. They don’t ask about income or residency—if you need help, the door is open. Donations of baby items (up to age two), maternity clothes, and nursing bras are welcome. Items can be dropped off at the center during regular business hours, as listed on their website. Whether through text, virtual meetings, or in-person counseling, The Door replaces fear with support and practical plans for the future. Learn more at friendsofthedoor.org or call/text (469) 632-1032.
